Here’s how a class looks…

  • Benefit from “Flipped Classroom” experience- Accommodates your learning style and busy schedules.  In between the weekly group classes, take your learning anywhere by viewing the dynamic video modules brought to you by Rebecca Dekker, PhD., founder of Evidence Based birth® at your own convenience.  They are divided into manageable weekly segments, keeping you on track.  For every video you watch on your own, you’ll earn points towards fun prizes!

  • 2 Two- hour Group Classes- In the first and last class, get that community feel by meeting in a small group (6 couples max), where you’ll chat about important information you have learned, and figure out how you will put it into action!  On the last class we take a look at includes comfort measures where you are able to bring along one additional family member, friend or Doula!

  • Weekly Online Group Classes with your EBB® Instructor- Enjoy even more flexibility and convenience!  Both you and your partner will have the ability to attend the group meets virtually, from anywhere via Zoom call.  This allows you a chance to ask questions and reflect on your learning!

  • Gain Personal Mentorship-  Mandy Johnson Renaud, experienced doula, and childbirth educator, looks forward to being your mentor on this journey!

Q: Can’t I just educate myself online using search engines and videos?
A: A lot of that info you find online? It’s bad or inaccurate! The benefit of the Evidence Based Birth® Childbirth Class is that we curate all of the best, evidence-based information and get you and your partner engaged in the learning process.

Q: Shouldn’t I just let the doctors and nurses tell me what to do?
A: Routine practices in some hospitals are still about 15 to 20 years behind the research, and there is a lot of pressure to conform to traditions that might not be in your best interests. We will teach you and your partner how to be your own advocate—a skill you can for the rest of your life!

Q: My friends told me that taking a childbirth class is a waste of time.
A: There are a lot of poor-quality classes out there that have given childbirth education a bad reputation. The founder of Evidence Based Birth®, Rebecca Dekker, PhD, RN, APRN, knows how to make classes exciting for young adults. The end result is a class that is motivating and SO much fun to participate in. You will learn more than you could ever imagine!

Q: What will I actually learn in this class that could be of use to me?
A: Our students are most excited to learn about the entire toolkit of comfort measures for labor. We cover pain management techniques like massage, water immersion, upright birthing positions, acupressure, music therapy, and deep breathing, just to name a few. When labor starts, you and your partner will be ready!

"It's really hard to write a review when you know you could never possibly come close to expressing in words the impact someone's had on your life. You truly have to experience it for yourself. The abundance of knowledge, the genuine care, unwavering support and true empowerment you shower over your people is hands down the best ever. Not only for the birthing person but their partner as well. Our confidence grew with every class and every text/phone call. Mandy was always readily available with speedy responses any time day or night. She also has a solid list of other highly recommended professionals she can refer you too if it is something she couldn't personally help with...
I could go on and on but to keep it simple I will just say, everyone deserves a Mandy in their lives!!"
